If you’re new here, or if you don’t know who Lauren Sanchez is, you might be wondering why you’re reading about her in a newsletter written by a photographer who promised to show you things you need to know. Well, here’s some context:

1. According to Wikipedia, Lauren Sanchez is a Mexican-American journalist, author, and philanthropist who gained fame as an entertainment reporter and news anchor. She’s also a licensed pilot and the founder of Black Ops Aviation. In 2023, she became engaged to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

2. Yesterday’s inauguration reminded me that Lauren was one of the first people I wanted to write about when I started this newsletter. However, the more stories I wrote, the more I felt that there were more important subjects to cover (like me), and, of course, the fear of upsetting my "classy" friends stopped me from doing so. But after seeing what she wore at the Capitol and noticing how my Latin friends reacted to that outfit on social media, I realized I actually had a lot to say. And this is why…
