A collection of random things that made my eyes hurt. In other words: Things you missed (TV edition).
The most frightening thing about this post is that by the end of it, you’ll probably think that I am absolutely insufferable or simply a very annoying person to go to the movies with.
Hola!
Visual media and visual artists are the main driving force of my creative life. I try to watch movies and TV shows every week. I go to magazine shops every Tuesday before therapy and spend at least an hour looking for the printed versions of some of the magazine covers I’ve seen online. I follow most of the photographers, stylists and quality images creators of our times on social media, and learn from them in every way possible. I remember when I started working in fashion, a blog called Fashion Gone Rogue would publish scans and digital images of most of the editorial photos and fashion advertising campaigns from all over the world. The first time I found this website, there were 104 pages, each with around 20 posts to look at. I decided that I needed to see all of them if I wanted to have a career as a fashion photographer, so I did. This kind of research really was the only thing I considered helpful to learn about this industry and in a more practical way, to create mood boards and inspiration decks for my clients toward the end of the 2000s.
All this is to say that I have spent the majority of my adult life training my eye to see EVERYTHING and not miss any detail. The observations in this post are very banal and not always very intelligent, but I think it’s because I read very little — and even less when books don’t come with pictures!
Here are two images of me when I meet anybody for the first time:
I decided to write this post to show you the kinds of things I pay attention to — things that either make me question or completely abandon whatever it is that I’m watching. I’m not talking about pieces of art on the wall that drive us crazy for being a bit crooked. I’m talking about more specific stuff, like that time when after ten years I finally decided to watch Game of Thrones but just a few minutes in, I had to immediately stop watching it after seeing a hipster-looking guy wearing jeans and a slim Uniqlo puffer jacket on the first season of A PERIOD TV SHOW!
Did you miss it? here it is
